Becoming a Christian

Belief in Jesus Christ is the beginning. We believe that He is the divine Son of God sent to Earth to save us.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Realization of sin: Sin is disobedience to God. When we realize that we are living in opposition to the Word of God we need to change direction, repent. No one is without fault.

“This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3:22-24)

The apostle Peter proclaimed to the people in Acts 2:38

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

The Bible teaches that we become a Christian when we repent of sin, put our faith in Jesus Christ, confess that He is Lord, and are immersed by water baptism.
